St. John students, teachers, parents, grandparents and guests were once again treated to a wonderful SJS Band performance as the St. John School band performed the “Spring Concert” under the directorship of Mrs. Hurlburt CFM. The concert began with the youngest musicians, the Grade 3 recorder musicians. They played an ensemble which included songs such as “Merrily we Roll Along” and aptly entitled, “Spring Along”. Next up was the Fourth Grade Cadets, Matthew C. And Jack M. playing five pieces including "Beethoven’s Ninth” and “Blow the Man Down”. The Advanced Band continued with the concert and started their performance with “Kraxy Klock”. Solo and small ensembles were sprinkled throughout the concert including a duet from Jack F. and Kevin F playing the “Mission Impossible” theme song. Mrs. Hurlburt later played tribute to Jack F. for his participation this year in the regional and state bands in Hartford and NYC. The concert concluded with “The Sound and the Fury”. St. John School is so proud of it’s SJS Band and delights at every concert in the growth of our talented musicians. They are a joy to both watch and listen to!
