The SJS Christmas Band Concert - Another SJS Tradition!

Dec 17 2019

The SJS Christmas Band concert took place at St. John School this week. As Mother Elaine mentioned, it is the beginning of a trio of special events that will take place at St. John School as we await the birth of our Savior, Christ the King. The concert began with our Grade 3 students on recorder, playing “Jingle”. They were followed close behind by the cadet band, who intertwined their repertoire as Grade 7 student, Maddie K narrated the “Night Before Christmas”. They also played “Jingle Bells”.

SJS Band Concert - Christmas 2019

The Cadet Band was joined onstage by the SJS Advanced Band. The Advanced Band continued the concert, interspersing secular and religious music, in the form of  the “The Drummer Boy” and melodies such as “Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree” and “Rudolph”. The audience was treated to a solo performance of "Silent Night” by Maddie K. Mother Elaine thanked the students for all their tremendous efforts, many of whom just started playing in September. She also thanked the parents for their support of the SJS band program and last but not least, our talented Music Director, Mrs. Hurlburt.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Lessons & Carols 2019 on December 19th!
